General

The Ferret camera is not bluetooth — it’s WiFi. The Ferret camera has its own WiFi hotspot. No other network is needed. Just turn on the camera and wait a few seconds for it to boot then once the camera LEDs are on, search in the WiFi section on your smart device.

Just go to your Apple or Google App store on your smart device, search for “Ferret Tools” and download the free Ferret Tools app.

When you install, make sure you give the app access to the smart devices photo gallery.

Note there is also a My Ferret Tools app, which is a separate app which provides additional services and special offers such as FREE cloud storage and extended warranty as well as other special offers.

The Ferret Plus can be configured to record video to an onboard SD card, which will allow it to record video even when the WiFi connection drops out. Other Ferret cameras will not work underground, underwater or inside a metallic conduit as these scenarios will block the WiFi signal.

If you can’t get your smart phone to connect to the Ferret WiFi camera, check for other phones linking to it.

Only 1 smart phone can connect to Ferret WiFi camera at once. If you have linked the camera to several phones, one of the other phones could have automatically linked to the camera even though the App is not running. Smart phones often auto link to a known WiFi.

Yes – with the rear cap screwed on. All Ferret cameras are IP67 rated, with the rear cap screwed on.

The Ferret App is free to download and doesn’t need a password. Please check your smart devices security settings or possibly another App is asking for a password.

This may happen on a small number of Android phones. With an iPhone or different Android phone, which can see the Ferret SSID, in the Ferret App, go to the Settings screen and run the firmware update.

Please contact the Ferret Tools support team for the full update process. Just go to the Support page or email us directly at [email protected].

Yes. The LED brightness of your Ferret camera can be adjusted in 2 ways:

1. Tap the LED Brightness Adjustment button (light bulb) to change brightness to one of 3 settings, OFF / NORMAL / FULL.

2. Press and hold the LED Brightness Adjustment button (light bulb). A slider appears below the button which you can slide up and down to adjust LED brightness.

Go to Settings -> Data usage -> Cellular data usage and scroll down to find and select
the Ferret App. Turn off Background data to prevent the App trying to use cellular
data.

Your Ferret will give you up to 90 minutes of use, with the LEDs on normal brightness,
before it needs recharging.

RED = Charging, OFF = Fully Charged, WHITE = Camera ON

In your phone’s gallery, where your normal photos and videos are stored, a separate folder for each Ferret camera is created, which contains your Ferret photos and videos for that Ferret camera model. For example, if you’re using a Ferret Lite and a Ferret Sweeps, in your phones gallery there will be separate folders called “Ferret Lite” and “Ferret Sweeps”.

Android

Some Androids don’t understand why you want to connect to a WiFi network without Internet. If a warning alert is displayed, check the box to not ask/show again and click OK/Yes.

Please try placing your phone into Airplane or Flight mode, turn your phone’s WiFi back on (while staying in Airplane mode), restart your Ferret App and Ferret camera, and try the firmware update again. Sometimes it can take 3 or 4 attempts before the update runs successfully.
